Advantages And Disadvantages Of Electric Vehicles

We have all at some time seen (and probably travelled in) trains, trams, buses and boats that are powered by electricity. What is perhaps less well known is that the first battery powered vehicles were on the market in the early 1900′s. These electrified carriages had a top speed of around 14 miles per hour and a range of about 18 miles. These automobiles remained popular until the development of the internal combustion engine, which made possible vehicles of greater power, speed and range.
It is only in recent years that there has been an upsurge of interest in electrically powered cars. Various factors have contributed to this: oil becoming prohibitively expensive, the earth’s oil reserves in danger of running dry and unacceptable pollution levels. It has become imperative that we find alternative sources of power.
Battery powered cars are considered by some to be the ultimate solution to our dependence on oil. Electric motors do not produce toxic exhaust gases. Gasoline powered cars, on the other hand, dump millions of tons of pollution into the atmosphere daily.
To fully charge an electric car costs about one fifth of the cost to fill up a gasoline powered car. As the price of oil continues to rise, this difference will become greater. From this perspective, the electrical vehicle is looking more and more attractive.
Electric vehicles have very few moving parts that need to be maintained. They also do not depend on a series of controlled explosions to produce motive energy, so they are not subject to the strain and heat produced in an internal combustion engine. Their comparative simplicity means that less maintenance is required.
The major disadvantage at this stage is the limited range made possible by current battery technology. Battery powered cars typically have a range of around one or two hundred miles before needing to be recharged, and a typical charge takes several hours. As with any rechargeable battery, the car’s batteries have a finite number of charge/discharge cycles and in time will need replacement.
Electric cars are more expensive than gasoline cars, due mainly to the cost of batteries. Exacerbating the situation is the fact that consumers in the UK and USA are not prepared to change their gasoline cars for electric cars until batteries with a longer life have been developed. This hinders the wholesale changeover to battery power, at least in the immediate future.
One thing is certain – we have only enough oil for another few decades. That fact, together with the cost and pollution issues mean that it is imperative that we find alternate means of powering our vehicles. The chief contender right now is the electrically powered vehicle.

Electric cars are also known as EV or electric vehicle, has existed since the early1850s, but since the creation of electric start on the internal combustion engine, were almost forgotten. Today, with the increasing pollution caused by oil – derived fuels and the possibility that these fuels are very nearly exhausted, car owners are looking for different ways to extend your driving life. As of that, people are beginning to detect the electric car, as well as other hybrids, again.
A modified car is not the last idea. Time has changed there, many petrol cars run on electricity. Coaches who have seen today is truly at home backyards and garages. This is mainly due to the low cost of production of electric cars by car companies, despite the many advantages that this kind of vehicles we sell.
Due to the fact that they do not produce emissions, electric cars do not contribute to air pollution. This caused a lot of interest lately, especially when the presence of smog in Beijing has the Olympics. Smog, which is a short, smoky haze is regularly observed in large cities and is largely due to emissions from cars and industry. When exposed to smog, people may experience eye irritation, and a lot of respiratory diseases. Because even without all the discharges stored energy in battery converted to running wheels. Electric cars are more efficient and provide a better return by car owners; money in the long term. These are parts of it should be affordable and sustainable technology advances. Nowadays, batteries needed for electric cars have longer lives between charging and offers better mileage.
Due to the lack of car engine combustion provides the voltage to be calmer, which contributes to less noise pollution. It is almost silent is one of its key features that makes it attractive for vehicle owners who are not like that a lot of noise when running.
Without internal voltage electric car combustion engine is quieter, so help the less noise. It is almost as silent as one of its most important features and attracts car owners do not like the fact that a lot of noise when driving.
